Specify coating for defense support components using drawing revisions, approved materials, masking and inspection records. Use the following questions to prepare a project-specific finishing brief.
Replace military-grade shorthand with a drawing
The phrase military-grade does not identify a coating product or acceptance procedure. Send the governing drawing, revision, component classification, approved material and contractual requirements. Different support components may require very different protection.
Identify whether the part is a housing, bracket, frame or specialist component. Program approval, functional qualification and general industrial finishing capability are separate matters. PPC does not infer acceptance from an industry label.
Protect function as well as appearance
Define electrical contact areas, grounding, threads, fits, seals and no-coat zones. Identify abrasion, chemicals, salt, UV and cleaning duties. The finish should be selected against those exposures and the actual substrate.
Agree preparation and cure constraints for the assembly. Heat-sensitive materials, inserts and joined components need review. Use an accepted first article to confirm fit and appearance before a repeat release.
Specify records and packaging
State inspection stages, traceability, sampling, acceptance limits and who authorizes deviations. Only include named test methods where the purchaser requires them and the supplier confirms scope.
Identify part numbers, protected faces, packaging and delivery sequence. Send the procurement requirements to PPC before quoting so any unmet approval or process requirement is surfaced early. A durable finish can support equipment life, but it cannot establish an unverified defense certification.
