Plan for transport before commissioning
A fabrication may be coated months before it reaches a remote site. Specify outdoor laydown conditions, lifting points and tie-down interfaces as well as the final installed exposure. Review packing and approved repair procedures for damage during transport or installation.
Select for installed exposure and the journey to site
Specify UV, salt contamination, cleaning and incidental chemical contact for each support assembly. Review weatherability and corrosion protection as parts of a complete system. Long laydown periods, shrink wrapping and repeated lifting can add handling requirements that do not appear on the final equipment layout.
Keep site assembly information with the shipment
Identify bolted interfaces, removable panels and approved lifting contacts. Define piece marks, the receiving inspection and any permitted repair materials before dispatch. For a remote build, a clearly identified replacement bracket or support frame can be easier to procure than an unspecified whole skid.
Separate support steel from process and wear surfaces
Continuous ore impact, process immersion, sour service and pressure containment require their own engineering assessment. Powder coating a support skid does not qualify it for all exposure conditions associated with oil or mineral extraction.
